Trama:
Un uomo con la passione per le automobili divide la sua vita diurna tra il lavoro di meccanico e quello di stuntman per il cinema e, in quella notturna, saltuariamente, si trasforma anche in autista per criminali. Mentre il suo capo officina Shannon gli procura un accordo con un potente boss locale per introdurlo alle corse professionistiche, lui conosce e si innamora di Irene, sua vicina di casa con un figlio a carico e il marito in galera. Quando questi torna in libertà, la malavita gli si fa subito avanti vantando un conto aperto e arrivando a minacciare la donna ed il bambino. Preoccupato per la loro sorte, il meccanico/stuntman decide di mettersi a disposizione dell'uomo come pilota per il colpo che dovrebbe consentirgli di saldare il debito ed affrancarsi: ma niente va per il verso giusto, e la situazione si complica ulteriormente
